Antibes in Winter: The Secret Season

Most visitors come between June and September. They miss something magical.

Winter in Antibes (November-February) is mild — temperatures of 10-15°C, frequent clear days, and that particular winter light that makes the Mediterranean look like burnished silver. The crowds are gone. The prices are halved. The town belongs to the Antibois again.

What’s Open?

Surprisingly, almost everything. The Picasso Museum, the old town, the market (smaller but more authentic), restaurants (where the locals eat), the ramparts walk, and the coastal path on Cap d’Antibes. The only things closed are the seasonal beach clubs and some tourist shops.

What’s Special

• The Christmas market in December (mulled wine, local crafts, the whole festive deal)
• The winter sunsets — dramatic and early (around 5 PM)
• The feeling of having Antibes almost to yourself
• The winter produce: citrus, root vegetables, and the first wild mushrooms
